AtCor Medical today announced that its US subsidiary AtCor Medical, Inc USA has been awarded a US$135,637 grant for qualified investments in a qualifying therapeutic discovery project under section 48D of the Internal Revenue Service Code. The monies received will assist in offsetting AtCor’s multi-center clinical trial investment for “Treatment of Patients with Heart Failure through Aggressive Cardiac Load Reduction” which is currently underway.

FDA Welcomes Central Blood Pressure Data in Pharmaceutical Trials - Summary of Meeting Published in Journal of the American Society of Hypertension

AtCor Medical today announced a significant step forward in expanding its ability to penetrate the annual US $100 million pharmaceutical market with its SphygmoCor devices and related clinical trial services. Clarification of the US Food and Drug Administration’s position on the use of central blood pressure measurement comes in an editorial summarising a meeting published in the Journal of the American Society of Hypertension. A consensus outcome of the meeting was that “incorporating central blood pressure measurement for safety purposes is welcomed by the FDA.”

Second Positive Medicare Coverage Ruling in Michigan - Reinforces Previous Judgment Requiring Plan to Cover SphygmoCor System

AtCor Medical today announced a second positive case ruling by an Administrative Law Judge for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Specifically, the judge disagreed with the findings of a Medicare health plan assessment in the state of Michigan that the SphygmoCor technology is experimental and ruled that the plan must provide coverage for use of the SphygmoCor System.

Central BP a Superior Determinant of Left Ventricular Hypertrophy -- New Study Highlights Importance of Central Pressure in Patient Care and Clinical Trials

AtCor Medical today announced a new National Institutes of Health (NIH)-funded study, published in the Journal of Hypertension, has found that central (aortic) blood pressure, measured noninvasively, is a more important indicator of the development of left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) than is brachial blood pressure. LVH relates to muscle thickening in the heart’s pumping chamber. Its incidence increases with age and is more common in people who have high blood pressure.

1st Half Market Update

AtCor Medical today announced unaudited H1 FY2010 sales of $4.4 million, a 13% decline in constant currency terms from the record H1 sales in FY2009. This figure does not include a large pharma order that had been expected in December and is now expected to close within the next 30 days. Without this delay the business would have reported positive growth for the half in constant currency. Non-pharma sales for the half grew 17% pcp in constant currency.
